Why do we offer our concerts for free?

Simply put, our mission is to make great orchestral music both accessible and fun. Our community of concert patrons include residents of retirement communities, families (young and old), and those who appreciate live symphonies. As a 501(c)3 charitable organization, we feel that charging for admission takes focus away from accessibility and fun, and causes people to consider an expense before deciding to experience TCSO. Free admission enables anyone and everyone to enjoy great music.

Even with a volunteer group of musicians (who donate their own money to the orchestra as well), our annual expenses budget exceeds $12,000 – made up of rental expenses, facilities, soloists and featured musicians, and musical direction. In lieu of charging for admission, we look to fund one-half of or operating budget through our “Friends of TCSO” campaign. Donation options begin at $25.

We recognize all TCSO donors in our program as “Friends of TCSO”. Your name will be listed according to donation level. Levels include:

  • Friend – $25
  • Patron – $50
  • Partner – $100
  • Principal’s Circle – $250
  • Conductor’s Circle – $500

We greatly appreciate your sponsorship and support!
